The New Bedford Firefighters
~ IAFF Local 841 was established in 1945 for the betterment of
the members of the New Bedford Fire Department. It has
been the mission of this Union’s leadership to promote unionism
amongst its members, advocate for safe working conditions and
training of its members and to encourage its members to take
advantage of any educational opportunity. We are proactive
members in the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts and
the International Association of Fire Fighters.

~ Local 841 are full time professional fire fighters protecting
the City of New Bedford, Massachusetts which has a population of
One Hundred Thousand citizens covering an area of 36 square
miles. We are a 236 member department, manning 7
Engine
Companies, 3 Ladder Trucks, 1 Airport Crash Truck, a 24’ Ocean
Rescue Boat, a Fire Investigation Bureau and Fire Dispatch
Center. New Bedford Firefighters respond to over 12,000
calls a year.
